Two Boston giants join forces
Two Boston giants join forces Boston-based Burdens Group, the New Holland tractor and machinery dealership, has joined forces with local firm TH Clements and Son, one of the country’s leading producers of vegetables, following a deal involving a dozen blue tractors.

TH Clements and Son has a long history in the area – established in the late 1940s, the company was founded by Harry Clements. It began as a 16 acre operation producing vegetables. Today it still produces cabbages, sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower – and markets produce from over 3000 hectares of land in Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Cornwall.

Burdens Group has been in existence for forty years. Last year it joined the New Holland dealership network and began supplying the impressive range of products from the New Holland portfolio of agricultural machinery.

The deal struck between the two firms begins a new chapter in the relationship between New Holland and TH Clements - and it is a relationship built on common themes. New Holland tractors are built in Britain while TH Clements grows vegetables in Britain for some of the UK’s largest retailers.

Both companies also take their environmental credentials seriously: New Holland has a Clean Energy Leader Strategy that aims to reduce fuel consumption and improve efficiency – a real priority for TH Clements and Son too.

Neil Sharpe, T H Clements’ Head of farming, said that the decision to choose New Holland tractors was clear cut:
“We chose New Holland after comparing one of its T7 tractors with a competitor. The results were very interesting: The New Holland T7 had twice the horsepower of the other tractor, but gave an average saving of 25% on diesel costs.”

Norman Burden is the managing director of the Burdens Group:
“This is our first major fleet deal since we joined forces with New Holland last year. T H Clements have now taken delivery of the twelve tractors – tractors which are impressively energy efficient and have been built in Britain. As their local dealer, we can offer T H Clements strong service and post-sales support – something we’re rightly very proud of.”
