New Holland is recognised as agriculture’s Clean Energy Leader through its unswerving commitment to developing solutions that assist the world’s farmers in environmentally friendly and productive agriculture. Quite simply, New Holland is every farmers’ 360° partner for sustainable farming. In order to bring these concepts to a wider audience, New Holland has further developed its online platform, with exciting new content.

Want to calculate and reduce your carbon footprint? The online CarbonID™ calculator will show you how
Consumers are increasingly demanding farm produce with a reduced carbon footprint. In an effort to support farmers in facing this new challenge, New Holland has developed an online CarbonID™ footprinting tool.

A specific section of the Clean Energy Leader website has been created to enable farmers and contractors to calculate the carbon footprint of their current tractor fleet, and show them how they could reduce it by replacing some of their equipment with Tier 4A compliant, ECOBlue™ SCR machines. This technology can not only reduce NOx emissions, but also agribusinesses’ fuel consumption by up to 10%, a major contributor to farms’ overall carbon emissions.

Fleet owners can choose to calculate their carbon footprints either based on annual fuel usage or hours worked. Then, they simply input data including their fleets’ current tier level and horsepower range, the price of fuel and AdBlue, together with their average work rate, and the calculator automatically provides them not only with the carbon reduction they could achieve in tonnes, but also the amount of money they could save through reduced fuel consumption.

Take a virtual tour of the very first pilot Energy Independent Farm at La Bellotta in Italy
New Holland’s road map for farming of the future foresees a world in which farmers will be able to satisfy their own energy needs. They will power their NH2™ tractors with pure hydrogen, produced on their farms. This sustainable, energy self-sufficient approach to agriculture will free them from fluctuating energy prices and the negative impact they have on farm incomes.

In order to catch a glimpse of this wonderful new world, visit the dedicated website to take a virtual tour of the first pilot Energy Independent Farm at La Bellotta, just outside of Turin, Italy. Navigate around the farm, delve into its history, find out just what crops are produced and which animals farmed. An entire section is devoted to environmental sustainability with particular emphasis on the photovoltaic and biogas plants; you can even see real-time energy production thanks to the live data feed. Inspiring photo and video galleries of the farm itself, together with sponsored art projects, bring the site to life. Beautiful backdrops and fluid navigation complete the feeling of being at one with nature.

Keep checking back and be the first to catch a glimpse of the NH2™ hydrogen tractors at work there in the summer of 2012.

Discover a world of biomass business opportunities
Biomass is of growing importance to the world’s farmers, as it could be considered as the ultimate renewable energy source. Farmers grow the crops which they will later transform into energy alongside a whole host of farm waste which would otherwise be simply thrown away. This site provides farmers with an introduction to biomass and gives an overview of the different types of biomass and just how they can be transformed into energy.

For those who are seriously considering investing in biomass installations, they can browse the complete range of product solutions proposed by New Holland, from powerful forage harvesters, through to materials handling equipment. Interesting testimonials from around the world, and worked energy production examples give a true sense of biomass in action.
