Burdens Group celebrates first major New Holland fleet dealIt’s only been about six months since Burdens Group in Lincolnshire became part of the New Holland dealership network, but the partnership is already generating some very significant deals.

Most recently, Burdens completed a major order for TH Clements and Son Ltd in Boston: That order consisted of a fleet of twelve tractors ranging from T6020s to T7.270s. The fleet will be involved in planting, soil preparation, harvesting and road work for T H Clements; a major supplier of cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and sprouts to the retail market.

Neil Sharpe, T H Clements’ Head of farming, said that the decision to choose New Holland tractors was clear cut:
“The major benefit for us is the savings we’ll make on fuel consumption. We made a comparison between the New Holland T7 and a competitor tractor and the results were very interesting: The New Holland T7 had twice the horsepower of the other tractor, but gave an average saving of 25% on diesel costs.”

Neil says that there were other considerations too:
“The fact that we have a local New Holland dealer is very important to us for back up and support. The drivers say that they like the New Holland tractors: the cabs are comfortable, they like the all-round vision and the fact that they’re easy to use.”

Norman Burden is the managing director of the Burdens Group – a company that has operated in the Lincolnshire area for almost forty years:
“This is our first major fleet deal since we joined forces with New Holland last year. T H Clements have now taken delivery of the twelve tractors – tractors which are impressively energy efficient and have been built in Britain. As their local dealer, we can offer T H Clements strong service and post-sales support – something we’re rightly very proud of.”

The fuel efficiency of the New Holland tractors is something that T H Clements’ major customer is bound to approve of. Four years ago they became the first to label some of their products with their carbon footprint, so that their customers could see for themselves how much CO2 was emitted in the production, use and disposal of their products.

New Holland now offers an online tool to calculate exactly that: The CarbonID™ Calculator Tool is used to work out the current carbon footprint of the tractor fleet – by using either fuel consumption or tractor hours. The outcome shows the reduction that could be achieved by replacing some of the tractors with ECOBlue™ tractors.
