CNH Announces Extended Range of Tractors and Combines and New Draper Head Technology To Be Manufactured at Its New Industrial Plant in Cordoba, Argentina
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – (April 9, 2012) -- CNH, a global leader in the agricultural and construction equipment businesses and part of Fiat Industrial, today announced further investments to its facility in Cordoba, Argentina. The new investments, which are in addition to those it made public in April 2011, will take total investment in fixed assets to $200 million dollars.

CNH will locally manufacture Class 7 rotary combines, the best-selling in Latin America, as well as a range of tractors for special applications of up to 85 hp, as well as its Brand’s most powerful Class 8 and 9 combine models, which are already in production at the Cordoba complex. In addition, CNH will manufacture T7 and Puma tractors, which range up to 220 hp and have sowing capacity of 80 ha/day, and new draper head technology.

The announcement was made during a meeting with Fiat Industrial Chairman Sergio Marchionne and Argentine President Mrs. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and was complemented by a visit to the Casa Rosada esplanade, where Case IH and New Holland tractors and combines were on display. Fiat Auto Argentina, a company of Fiat S.p.A., is also present in Cordoba with a plant that produces the model Nuevo Palio.

Like the rest of the equipment that CNH will produce at the establishment in Cordoba, these new lines of products will aim at meeting local demand and that from other Latin American markets.

The new announcement is an addition to an initial investment by CNH and FPT Industrial, of which Mr. Marchionne informed the President of Argentina in a meeting held in April of 2011. The project involved the construction of a new industrial establishment in Cordoba for the production of large combines and tractors for special applications, and the expansion of the complex located in Ferreira for the introduction of new FPT Industrial production lines for the manufacture of large diesel engines used to supply CNH and Iveco on local and regional levels.

FPT Industrial announced today that production of its high power Cursor family engines will begin during the month of April.

The two new plants will cover a total surface area of 65,000 square meters and will create 800 direct and 1,500 indirect positions.

“CNH confirms and reinforces its commitment to the country to develop a center of excellence for the production and exportation of agricultural machinery and high-technology diesel engines with high local content," stressed Sergio Marchionne during the meeting.

Also in attendance at the meeting with the Argentine President were Cledorvino Belini, President of Fiat Latin America, Cristiano Rattazzi, President of Fiat Argentina, Richard Tobin, President and CEO of CNH, Franco Fusignani, CEO of CNH International, and Natale Rigano, President of Iveco Argentina.
