New Holland Agriculture take actions, not just make actions. Signing the Milan Charter.

“We believe that agriculture is fundamental, not just for food production, but also for landscape design, environmental and territorial protection and conserving biodiversity.” From the “Rights” section, The Milan Charter

CNH Industrial, Official Global Partner of the world Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy, has officially signed the “The Milan Charter”cultural legacy document.

The signed Charter was presented to the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, on October 16th during his visit to Expo. This document focuses on the world’s major food issues and the sustainable use of the planet’s resources: “a concrete and feasible manifesto”, as it is described on the official website of the Milan Charter, “that engages everyone, men and women, citizens of this planet, in the fight against undernourishment, malnutrition and waste, while promoting an equal access to natural resources and a sustainable management of production. In fact, the Milan Charter explores the theme of Expo Milano 2015 ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ through four interconnected perspectives: food, energy, identity and the dynamics of coexistence.” The Coordination Board for the redaction of the Milan Charter was chaired by Maurizio Martina, Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, and was composed by four Ministries, the UN, FAO, EXPO Milano 2015, Padiglione Italia, among many others.

Citizens, associations, farms, indutries, can sign the Charter as a declaration that they’re taking on the commitments expressed in the “Commitments” section of the document: they state their personal responsibility with respect to their activities with actionable goals creating awareness at both a national and global level to ensure a fairer and more sustainable future for the planet. They also ask governments and institutions to undertake measures to contribute to the Millennium Developments Goals announced by the United Nations.

By subscribing to the Milan Charter, CNH Industrial reiterates its dedication to overcoming the major challenges that food and agriculture face in the future. The Company not only signed the Charter, but also took an active role in drafting the document, by participating in working groups for the Milan Charter. “CNH Industrial will continue to persevere in our efforts to offer products and solutions for mechanizing agriculture and the transportation of food products. These solutions are increasingly innovative and efficient, thus promoting a circular economy through the recovery, recycling and reuse of materials and resources,” said Carlo Lambro, Brand President of New Holland Agriculture and a member of CNH Industrial’s Group Executive Council, who signed the Charter on behalf of the company.
