New Holland expands light construction line with launch of new midi excavators at EIMA 2024
  • New machines expand excavator offering into 6-12 tonne class
  • Range comprises one short-radius and four zero tail-swing models
New Holland is expanding its light construction equipment range with the launch of new mid-size excavators that take the brand into the 6-12 tonne segment. The machines extend New Holland's ability to cater for a wider range of user requirements, and compete in a European market with a significant annual volume.

Available on rubber or steel tracks, the new range comprises five models: the E70D, E75D, E85D, E90D and E100D. All except the E75D, which has a short radius design, are zero tail swing models.

There are three boom types in the range. A traditional unit on the E70D and E90D meets the needs of general digging and lifting applications. On the E75D and E100D, a two-piece boom provides extended reach or dump height, ideal for situations where work is taking place very close to the machine. A side boom on the E85D offers additional flexibility for heavy-duty tasks, suiting applications requiring enhanced stability and increased lifting capacity. Maximum reach ranges from 6,650-8,040mm, maximum digging depth from 4,020-4,670mm, and maximum dump height from 4,590-6,270mm.

Among the key features common to all models are fully-customizable auxiliary hydraulics, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd auxiliary circuits, with adjustable settings for flow, sensitivity and ramp – the speed with which the controls are activated and deactivated. An exclusive constant-flow option is ideal for powering attachments such as a mulcher or flail head, and a choice of attachment quick-couplers matches customer requirements. A skid-steer travel mode provides enhanced maneuverability where required.

Power is provided by 60hp engines on the E70D and E75D, with 75hp units on the E85D, E90D and E100D. Operators can select between three engine idle settings, to maximize fuel efficiency according to the type of task. A hydraulically-powered reversible fan automatically engages to force out debris and ensure efficient engine cooling, with selectable options for automatic reversal when the engine starts, manual reversal during operation, and automatic timed reversal. The system, which operates with minimal noise, ensures the excavator and its engine are always running efficiently at the correct temperature, which also helps maximize engine component life. A tiltable cab provides easy maintenance access, while a standard rear-view camera enhances safety.

Features designed to minimize service and maintenance time include an on-board fuel transfer pump for convenient refueling, and an auto-grease option which not only cuts the need for physical greasing but, because of its precision, helps to extend component life. Operators also benefit from standard and optional comfort features including an air-suspended seat, automatic climate control and LED lights for improved visibility in poor light. Front grid protection is available for added safety on specific applications.
