New Holland Agriculture enjoys a successful start to 2014: three FIMA and six AE50 innovation awards

• Opti-Grape™ technology: up to five times better cleaning performance
• Exclusive Opti-Speed™ strawwalkers: up to 10% higher productivity
• Versatile and durable SmartTrax™ rubber track technology for the TK4000
• Six prestigious AE50 awards

New Holland Agriculture has confirmed its position as the leader in agricultural innovation with three awards from the FIMA jury. Opti-Grape™ technology on the Braud 9000 range won an outstanding innovation award, alongside two technical innovation awards, which went to Opti-Speed™ variable speed strawwalker technology on the CX7000 and CX8000 Elevation range of combines and to the SmartTrax™ rubber tracks available on the TK4000 series of crawler tractors. This is in addition to six AE50 innovation awards from North America.

“New Holland is renowned for its commitment to efficient innovation, which makes agriculture more productive and profitable.” Stated Carlo Lambro, Brand President, New Holland Agriculture. “These awards, from both sides of the Atlantic, are testament to New Holland’s global dedication to developing state-of-the art technology across the entire product range including tractors, harvesting products, hay and forage equipment and speciality machines.”

Opti-Grape™ technology: up to five times better cleaning performance

A FIMA outstanding innovation award was given to Opti-Grape™ technology, which provides an air cushioned blowing surface to reduce the material other than grape by up to five times before the grapes fall down into the hopper. The operator adapts the air cushion’s strength by changing the turbine speed depending on the desired quality of sorting. Furthermore, a new pre-sorter, composed of two sets of rollers in the pre-selection area, further enhances cleaning efficiency by up to 20%. The result is a higher quality, less ‘green’ tasting wine, which enhances grower profitability, as well as the desirability of the harvest.

Exclusive Opti-Speed™ strawwalkers: up to 10% higher productivity

A technical innovation award was bestowed on the Opti-Speed™ system on the CX7000 and CX8000 Elevation range of super conventional combines, which delivers up to 10% higher productivity. This unique system automatically varies the strawwalker speed based on the field’s gradient. The operator simply selects from four pre-sets: wheat, maize, rapeseed and rice, and the Opti-Speed™ system takes care of the rest. When driving uphill, the strawwalker speed reduces to decrease the transport speed of the straw over the strawwalkers and when driving downhill, strawwalker speed is increased to prevent blockages. This system is particularly beneficial for maize harvesting thanks to slower strawwalker speeds.

Versatile and durable SmartTrax™ rubber track technology for the TK4000

The optional SmartTrax™ rubber tracks, available on the TK4000 range of crawler tractors, received a FIMA technical innovation award. Offering exceptional traction and durability, these road-legal rubber tracks reduce vibrations to significantly enhance operator comfort and facilitate road transport. The composition of the rubber tracks enables some flexion when they come into contact with the ground, which consequently lowers soil compaction, reduces damage to cover crops as well as soil scarring when performing headland turns. The rubber tracks are fully interchangeable with the standard steel variant when ultimate traction is required.

Six prestigious AE50 awards

The American Society for Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) awarded six prestigious AE50 awards to New Holland. ECOBlue™ HI-eSCR technology, introduced on the T7, T8 and T9 tractor ranges, ensures Tier 4B compliance*, whilst maintaining productivity and efficiency. The Roll-Belt™ baler boosts productivity by up to 20% thanks to its all new high capacity pickup. Opti-Speed™ strawwalker technology and SmartTrax™ rubber tracks with Terraglide™ suspension, respectively available on the CX7000 and CX8000 Elevation and the CR combines, were acknowledged in the harvesting segment. Only available in North America, the Discbine® centre-pivot disc mower-conditioner and the Speedrower® self-propelled windrower netted two further awards thanks to their technical improvements which are beneficial to farmers’ productivity.

*Introduction timing of T4B compliant machines may differ for different countries around the world.
