New Holland showcases T4 Electric Power at Agritechnica 2023
  • The industry’s first all-electric tractor in the utility segment with innovative and unique autonomous features included
  • First European public showcase following unveiling at CNH Industrial’s Tech Day in Arizona in December 2022
  • First milestone towards New Holland’s strategic plan for electrification

The New Holland T4 Electric Power utility tractor is making its European public debut at Agritechnica 2023 after the machine was revealed to the world during CNH Industrial’s Tech Day in the United States last December 2022.

The all-electric utility tractor is the first and unique in the industry and represents New Holland and CNH Industrial’s most recent development in their strategic plan for electrification. As a BEV – Battery Electric Vehicle fully battery-powered, it is the first zero-emission light utility tractor with no internal combustion engine. The T4 Electric Power joins the New Holland T7 Methane Power LNG and T6 Methane Power tractors building a full liner porfolio of zero carbon tractor solutions.

Being developed in record time in a common and successful effort by CNH Industrial’s Engineering teams in the US and Italy, aided by partnership with Monarch Tractor - agriculture innovator based in California, the project prioritized three important goals: customer experience, extended runtime and outstanding performance, while committing to a sustainable and compact dimension.

Power
The T4 Electric Power is the ideal solution for lower horsepower operations. It is suited to mixed farm, livestock, municipality, orchard and specialty applications with a peak power of 120hp, maximum torque of 440Nm and maximum speed of 40 km/h. This first-generation battery electric light vehicle belongs to the utility tractors segment and its 100% compatible with all conventional implements in the range, including the mechanical. Its battery offers excellent runtime, with up to one full day of use possible dependent on workload, and a recharge time with fast charging systems of just one hour. The tractor can also be used as a backup power source for other devices and machines and can provide energy for implements.

Operational comfort is also enhanced. Noise is reduced considerably, and vibration is substantially dampened. This respects stringent municipal noise regulations, allows for nighttime operation and improves livestock wellbeing, especially when working inside covered areas such as barns.

Autonomous Features
On the top of all benefits provided by the electrified driveline, boosted by the Smart Roof technology the T4 Electric Power also delivers several autonomous features designed to reduce TCO – Tractor Cost Ownership, assist operator’s during driving controls, improve overall applications performance/quality and leverage operator’s skills. Together these technologies provide leading solutions that support operators of all levels of experience.

The Smart Roof consists of a 360-degree awareness unique system which integrates sensors, cameras, and control units to detect and avoid obstacles, synchronize multiple machines and check the status of processes. Outstanding features include Follow Me Mode from which the tractor follows the operator been him outside the cab, very useful in dozens of ordinary farm daily events, such as passing through gates or feeding cattle. Likewise, the Shadow Mode enables the operator to guide the machine with gesture control outside the cab avoiding its need to inside the cab constantly. With real-time Live View farmers have their fleet literally in the palm of their hands in their mobiles while, with Fleet Management, managers can assign tasks from the office to each tractor of the fleet in the field. Implement Recognition ensures the tractor seamlessly links with the required attachment. Offboard digital Services enable operation of the tractor anytime from anywhere plus remote monitoring of performance.

The commercial production of the brand new T4 Electric Power is due to get started within 2023 in the US with a broader product offering to follow to match markets requiring sustainable high technology farm equipment.
