P&J HOUSE AND SONS

TH7.42 ELITE TELEHANDLER

Peter House and his two sons Mark and David are farming 1000 acres together on their arable and beef farm in Somerset which has been in the family since 1964. The livestock enterprise consists of 220 beef cattle and 100 pedigree breeding cows with all progeny sold for breeding. Together they also carry out services in contracting.
P & J House and Sons have been loyal New Holland customers for many years due to the ”reliability and ”good backup and service”.
They are currently running four New Holland tractors, a CX5.90 combine harvester, a small square baler and a telehandler. They have been running New Holland telehandlers on their farm since 2000. Following a successful demonstration from their local New Holland dealer Hawkins Agri Ltd, they decided to change their telehandler for the new TH telehandler range. The House family opted for a TH7.42 Elite.
Currently on their fifth New Holland telehandler ”going from a tractor and loader to a telehandler has changed workload for us” they explained. The TH7.42 Elite is an all rounder on the farm as it is used to feed cattle, load dung, handle grain and stacking bales. The main purpose for the telehandler on the farm is to stack small bales of hay and straw, removing the need to manually handle the bales. “The telehandler increases output and manoeuvrability on the farm for us” Peter explained. Mark explains that his favourite feature on the TH7.42 is ”the depressurisation button by the headlights is really good particularly when stopping all the time”. The external pressure release switch allows operators to switch attachments quickly and easily outside the cab.
”The reversible fan works well as it keeps the radiator clean” said Mark. The main engine radiator fan reverses every 6 minutes blowing dust and debris from the engine cooling package, oil coolers and intercooler. In the large cab, the telehandler is fitted with eight vents for added comfort. ”The air conditioning is good especially when stacking hay bales” explains David. ”The LED light package is a must” said Mark. They are very impressed with the new LED light option as it can produce up to 25,000 lumen of combined lighting power to turn night into day and increase safety and productivity. The Elite models feature the new 6x3 transmission with 3 modes; manual, semi-auto and full-auto. They have been impressed with the ”responsive transmissions” and have found the ”hydraulics quick and easy to push boom out”.
